About Albendazole
A broad spectrum antiparasitic medication. Albendazole or Albenza treats roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, and tapeworm infections. It works by inhibiting parasite microtubule formation. Albendazole is inexpensive and is used in mass drug administration programs to eliminate intestinal worms in children in developing countries. The drug is also used for hydatid disease and neurocysticercosis, serious parasitic infections. Albendazole is on the WHO essential medicines list and is a critical tool against neglected tropical diseases.
