About Cyclosporine Eye Drops
A calcineurin inhibitor formulated as an eye drop for chronic dry eye. Cyclosporine or Restasis treats dry eye by reducing inflammation in the tear producing glands. It is the first prescription medication specifically for chronic dry eye. The drug increases natural tear production over weeks to months. Cyclosporine eye drops are expensive and not always effective. A newer concentration called Cequa offers improved delivery. The medication provides relief for patients who do not respond to artificial tears.
