About Hydrocodone

Long one of the most prescribed opioids in the United States. Hydrocodone treats moderate to severe pain and is often combined with acetaminophen as Vicodin, Norco, or Lortab. Hydrocodone is derived from codeine and works similarly to morphine. It was rescheduled to Schedule II in 2014 to reduce abuse. Despite restrictions, hydrocodone remains widely prescribed. It carries the same risks as other opioids including addiction and respiratory depression.
