About Tramadol

A synthetic opioid with dual action: it binds to opioid receptors and inhibits serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake. Tramadol treats moderate pain including postoperative pain and fibromyalgia. It has a lower abuse potential than traditional opioids but can still cause dependence. Tramadol lowers seizure threshold and interacts with antidepressants, risking serotonin syndrome. It is popular because it is perceived as safer than traditional opioids, though risks remain.
