About Valsartan
An angiotensin receptor blocker that treats high blood pressure and heart failure. Valsartan or Diovan is also used to improve survival after heart attacks. In 2018, valsartan products were recalled worldwide due to contamination with NDMA, a probable carcinogen. The contamination came from changes in manufacturing processes at generic factories. The recall affected millions of patients and raised concerns about generic drug manufacturing quality control.
