About Bupropion
An atypical antidepressant that inhibits dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake. Bupropion or Wellbutrin treats depression without the sexual side effects of SSRIs. It is also approved for smoking cessation as Zyban. Bupropion does not typically cause weight gain. It lowers seizure threshold and is contraindicated in eating disorders. The drug is popular because it does not cause the emotional numbing or sexual dysfunction common with SSRIs. It is often combined with an SSRI for enhanced effect.
