Hepatitis B Vaccine
About Hepatitis B Vaccine
The first vaccine against a sexually transmitted infection and the first anti cancer vaccine, as hepatitis B causes liver cancer. The original vaccine was developed from blood plasma of infected donors. Recombinant DNA technology later produced a safer version. Hepatitis B vaccine is given as part of national immunisation schedules, which vary by country, and many include infants. The vaccine has dramatically reduced hepatitis B in countries with universal vaccination, preventing liver disease and liver cancer.
