About Liraglutide
An injectable GLP 1 receptor agonist for type 2 diabetes and obesity. Liraglutide or Victoza treats diabetes by enhancing insulin release and reducing appetite. At higher doses, it is approved as Saxenda for weight management. Liraglutide reduces cardiovascular events in high risk patients. It is given by subcutaneous injection. The drug was developed by Novo Nordisk and paved the way for semaglutide. Side effects include nausea, which usually improves over time.
