About Lisinopril

An ACE inhibitor that is one of the most prescribed medications in the US. Lisinopril treats high blood pressure, heart failure, and improves survival after heart attacks. It works by blocking angiotensin converting enzyme, reducing angiotensin II production. This dilates blood vessels and reduces fluid retention. Lisinopril is inexpensive and well tolerated. A dry cough is the most common side effect, affecting a notable minority of patients. It is on the WHO essential medicines list.
