About Dexlansoprazole
A proton pump inhibitor with a dual delayed release formulation. Dexlansoprazole or Dexilant treats GERD by releasing medication at two different times, providing longer acid suppression than standard PPIs. The unique release mechanism provides extended acid suppression coverage. Dexlansoprazole is more expensive than generic PPIs. It may benefit patients who have breakthrough symptoms on other PPIs, particularly nighttime acid reflux. As with all PPIs, long term use is typically reviewed periodically by prescribers.
