About Pantoprazole

A proton pump inhibitor similar to omeprazole. Pantoprazole or Protonix treats GERD and stomach ulcers. It has fewer drug interactions than omeprazole because it is metabolized differently. Pantoprazole is commonly used in hospitals as an intravenous formulation for bleeding ulcers. It is one of the most prescribed medications in the US. Like other PPIs, long term use has been associated with possible effects on nutrient absorption and bone health.
