About Sevoflurane

An inhaled anesthetic that is the most commonly used gas anesthetic in developed countries. Sevoflurane or Ultane is sweet smelling and non irritating, making it ideal for mask induction in children. It has rapid onset and recovery. Sevoflurane replaced halothane for pediatric anesthesia. The drug is generally safe but can degrade CO2 absorbers in anesthesia machines, producing compound A, which is toxic in animals but has not caused harm in humans. It enables smooth and rapid anesthesia induction.
