Amoxicillin
About Amoxicillin
A semisynthetic penicillin antibiotic that is widely prescribed for children and adults. Amoxicillin is absorbed better than penicillin and can be taken orally. Often combined with clavulanic acid as Augmentin to overcome beta lactamase resistance. Amoxicillin is one of the most prescribed antibiotics in the world. Common side effects include nausea and rash. It is first line treatment for otitis media, streptococcal pharyngitis, and sinusitis.
