Doxycycline
About Doxycycline
A tetracycline antibiotic used for a remarkably wide range of conditions. Doxycycline treats acne, Lyme disease, chlamydia, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, cholera, and malaria prophylaxis. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Doxycycline can cause photosensitivity, and dairy products can reduce its absorption. It is also used for bioterrorism preparedness against anthrax and plague. The drug is inexpensive and widely available.
