Clindamycin
About Clindamycin
A lincosamide antibiotic effective against anaerobic bacteria. Clindamycin treats skin infections, dental abscesses, and pelvic infections. It is an alternative for penicillin allergic patients. Clindamycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. The main risk is C. difficile colitis, a serious intestinal infection. Topical clindamycin is used for acne treatment. Despite risks, clindamycin remains valuable for anaerobic and dental infections.
