Doripenem
About Doripenem
A carbapenem antibiotic similar to meropenem. Doripenem or Doribax treats complicated intra abdominal infections and complicated urinary tract infections including pyelonephritis. It has broad spectrum activity against resistant bacteria. Doripenem has since been discontinued in the United States. The drug demonstrates how antibiotics may disappear from markets for reasons beyond their effectiveness. Carbapenems remain critically important antibiotics.
