About Fluticasone

An inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation. Fluticasone or Flovent treats asthma by preventing inflammation in the airways. It is used regularly as a controller medication. Fluticasone is also used as a nasal spray for allergic rhinitis. The drug revolutionized asthma management by addressing underlying inflammation rather than just symptoms. Combination inhalers combining fluticasone with salmeterol or vilanterol are widely used. Oral thrush is a common side effect, and mouth rinsing after inhalation reduces this risk.
