About Indomethacin

One of the most potent NSAIDs, discovered in 1963. Indomethacin or Indocin treats acute gout, ankylosing spondylitis, and severe arthritis. It is particularly effective for acute gout attacks. Indomethacin has more side effects than newer NSAIDs including headache, dizziness, and gastrointestinal problems. The drug is also used to close a heart defect called patent ductus arteriosus in premature infants, a use it shares with intravenous ibuprofen. Indomethacin is on the WHO essential medicines list.
