About Minoxidil

A medication originally developed for high blood pressure that was found to stimulate hair growth. Minoxidil or Rogaine treats male and female pattern hair loss. Applied topically to the scalp, it is thought to act on hair follicles and extend the growth phase. Minoxidil does not cure baldness but can slow hair loss and stimulate regrowth in some users. Results take several months to appear and are lost if treatment is discontinued. It is available over the counter.
