About Oseltamivir

An antiviral medication for influenza, better known as Tamiflu. Oseltamivir treats influenza A and B by inhibiting neuraminidase, an enzyme the virus needs to spread. Its benefit is greatest when started within 48 hours of symptom onset. Oseltamivir reduces symptom duration by less than a day on average and may prevent complications. The drug was stockpiled by governments during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic. Its effectiveness has been debated, but it remains the most widely used flu medication.
