About Piperacillin-Tazobactam

A combination of a broad spectrum penicillin with a beta lactamase inhibitor. Piperacillin tazobactam or Zosyn treats severe hospital infections including pneumonia, bloodstream infections, and intra abdominal infections. It is one of the most used intravenous antibiotics in hospitals. The combination covers a wide range of bacteria including Pseudomonas, making it valuable for hospitalized patients. The drug is given intravenously. It is a critical tool for empiric treatment of serious infections before culture results are available.
