Roflumilast
About Roflumilast
A phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor for severe COPD. Roflumilast or Daliresp reduces COPD exacerbations in patients with chronic bronchitis and frequent flare ups. It works by reducing inflammation in the lungs. Roflumilast is taken orally. The drug causes significant gastrointestinal side effects including nausea and weight loss, limiting its use. It is reserved for severe COPD that is not controlled by bronchodilators and inhaled steroids. Roflumilast represents a different approach to COPD treatment through systemic anti inflammatory action.
