About Somatropin
Synthetic human growth hormone used to treat growth hormone deficiency in children and adults. Somatropin or Genotropin promotes linear growth in children with deficiency. It is also used for Turner syndrome, Prader Willi syndrome, and chronic kidney disease. In adults, growth hormone replacement improves body composition and quality of life. The drug is given by injection and is very expensive. Controversy exists over its use for idiopathic short stature in children without true deficiency.
