Tedizolid
About Tedizolid
A second generation oxazolidinone antibiotic marketed as Sivextro. Tedizolid treats acute bacterial skin infections caused by gram positive bacteria including MRSA. It was designed as an improved version of linezolid with better potency and fewer side effects. Tedizolid is available in oral and intravenous forms. Clinical trials showed it was as effective as linezolid with a shorter treatment course. The drug is expensive and reserved for resistant infections. Tedizolid has a lower risk of bone marrow suppression than linezolid.
